Thoroughly enjoyed the slides.
Just a suggestion. Using v$sqlstats can be a less intrusive means of getting data than v$sql or v$sqlarea.

You're absolutely right about v$sqlstats being a better, faster, more scalable choice. I've been meaning to go through my pile of scripts and clean up things like that for ages...maybe now is a good time to do so!
